Hi! I'm Gabriella, but most people just call me Gabi. I'm a documentary storyteller and journalist studying at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where I'll graduate in August 2018 with a Bachelor of Journalism, and an emphasis in photo/video, women/gender studies, Spanish and English.
My work has focused on issues from the environment to mental health to unsolved crimes and liberation movements. Some of my recent work includes a documentary about the mutual aid movement happening in Puerto Rico post-hurricane Maria, and a video about a historic train wreck that happened in my hometown in 1894 and killed 11 people by sabotage.
In May 2017, I traveled to Uganda, through the Global Eyewitness photojournalism fellowship, where I produced a story about the lack of adequate mental health care for women war survivors. The video was recently awarded 6th place in the 2018 national Hearst journalism multimedia II competition.
If you have questions or inquires about any of my work, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
